The Destructive Power Of Brainwashing
 Confronted
with the horrific epidemic of suicide bombing
throughout the world, thinking people are
surely asking themselves: How can human beings
blessed with the gift of life deliberately
toss away their own lives and those of
countless innocent fellow humans?
To be blatantly self-serving, this is the
premise of my novel
Cult which for December 19 only is
being given away as a free e-book by
eReader.com, but is always available or
can be ordered as a trade book wherever books
are sold. It is a novel based on fact and
personal experience, suspenseful but also
chilling and not for the faint of heart.
To many of us such acts of mindless
destruction are baffling and incomprehensible.
But for those of us who have been studying the
cult phenomena for years, such actions can be,
if not fully comprehended, partially explained
by invoking the umbrella definition of
brainwashing.

state where their minds are totally controlled
to fulfill the agenda of the cult. The
result of these manipulative tactics is blind
obedience. Indeed, in my opinion, anyone -
educated or uneducated, any age, though mostly
very young or very old, any gender, class, or
whatever current or previous religious
persuasion - can be "captured" by a ruthless
cult bent on creating human automatons to do
their bidding in the service of their
committed agendas.
The evidence that it can be done is
irrefutable. Remember Jonestown, the Manson
family murders, the Aum Shinrikyo poison
attack on the Tokyo subway, Waco, the suicide
bombings in New York, Baghdad, Bali, London,
Israel, Iraq, Spain and countless other
places. Worse, once indoctrinated, once a
person's mind is "snapped" into place it is a
complicated, difficult and often brutal
process to unsnap it back into rational mode,
that place where a person has the ability to
make his own choices.
One of the best explanations of this phenomena
is contained in the landmark book by
Flo Conway and Jim Siegelman titled
Snapping: America's Epidemic of Sudden
Personality Change. Having witnessed with
my own eyes and ears the methods and results
of this process of mind capture, I am
convinced they are on to something enormously
important.
While I have tried to draw a generalized
picture of the power of cults, the results of
this phenomena is self-evident. Suicide
bombers are recruited, brainwashed by specific
carefully designed methods of indoctrination,
sometimes from birth and sent on their way to
die and create mayhem and murder to advance
the agenda of the cult. Whether devised by
religious zealots for political purposes or
entities interested only in material gain, the
process to create human robotics is the same
and extremely difficult to undo.
It has always been thus, but it is more
chilling now that modern weaponry has been
developed that is Draconian in its destructive
power and proliferating exponentially. Indeed,
if some rogue nation state controlled by a
cult or a powerful borderless renegade cult
like Al Qaeda obtains these monstrous weapons,
they will use them as sure as night follows
day, resulting in the mass murder of millions.

"Deuchland Uber Alles". It cost millions of
lives to shut that one down. Let us hope that
shutting down Moslem cultism will have less of
a price tag. |

Cults, in the sense that I have used the term
are multiplying and becoming more and more
powerful. Iran is a good example of a nation
state controlled by a cult, its agenda to
destroy and totally dominate the western world
through its own unique brand of Moslem
cultism. Al Qaeda is an example of a
borderless renegade cult with a similar agenda
operating under yet another brand of Moslem
cultism. Nazi Germany was another cult
that promoted its own agenda of race
domination, clearly stated under its slogan
"Deuchland Uber Alles". It cost millions of
lives to shut that one down. Let us hope that
shutting down Moslem cultism will have less of
a price tag.
Note that I am not putting the entire Moslem
religion in that category, only the
hardcore cults that operate within its
boundaries and uses the religion to gain
legitimacy for its agenda. Other
religions, too, are not immune to such an
internal tumor.
This inner hardcore mechanism of a cult
operating within religions and nation states
can wreak havoc if not stopped in its tracks.
Of course it's a scary notion and while denial
can make us feel more safe and comfortable, at
least temporarily, the danger is out there
and getting worse.
Call me a worry wart, unduly alarmed by a
personal experience. Accuse me of panic
mongering or being deliberately alarmists just
to sell a few books. I'll understand. Nor can
I offer a rational path of what can be done
about it.
Nevertheless, I feel compelled to be a
self-appointed bellwether. My fervent hope is
that I'm not the only one who thinks like
this. I believe it in my gut.
