You Can't Go Home Again...Or Can
You?
|
Ever since I returned full time to
New York City from a forty-odd year exile in
other parts of America, I have pondered the
wisdom of this great
title of the novel by
Thomas Wolfe, the fabulous and favorite
writer of my youth...You have to be away a long
time, like myself, to understand how unchanging
New York really is. It is the city of romance
and fantasy, of vision and imagination, of
wonder and curiosity. It is welcoming and, under
its tough veneer, softhearted and giving. Even
if you are defeated in New York, your dreams
dashed, your prospects dimmed, you know in your
gut that you dared to fight the good fight on
the toughest turf in the world. See
complete story.

New York Echoes Short Story
Collection Release Set for February 2008
Stonehouse Press announces February 5, 2008 as the
publication date for Warren Adler's most recent
short story collection, New York Echoes.
In these powerful stories memories and change
collide, love prevails or is thwarted, ambitions
are achieved or frustrated, plans are often
overwhelmed by events and luck and chance work
their magic for good or evil.
Suspenseful and mesmerizing, Warren Adler's
stories reflect the drama in the lives of the
lonely, the mature, the ambitious, the displaced,
the seekers after money, love, fame, sex,
fulfillment and respect as they battle to escape
the inevitable pull of anonymity in the bustling
bigness of New York.
Insight, humor and irony are the hallmarks of
Adler's novels and short stories. In these
wonderful stories, the reader will be amply
rewarded by enjoyment, insight and a special
understanding of the human condition as seen
through the eyes of one of America's most prolific
authors.

Two couples are caught in an emotional web of

his life and the object of his sexual
obsession as a young man. Baffled by her
non-recognition, he learns that she has
totally reinvented herself and snagged a rich
husband who has no knowledge of her real early
life. Unbeknownst to Ken, his own wife is
