My Manhattan

“My Manhattan” as read by Warren Adler

Outside my window as I write

Orange men are blasting rock on which

My sturdy island sits, so small and tight

To make yet another hive of steel and glass

And add a tower to the jungle mass

This vast erection is a miracle of innovation

The crown jewel of a great nation

A monument to the spirit of creation

We need more living space in this special sphere

For many people bring their dreams here

We cannot disappoint and close the gate

And challenge destiny and fate

Yes, we might lose a ray of sun

But we cannot leave hope undone

We are the magic place

Where people come to join the race

So blast on Orangemen

We need the space.
